At Courons MTL, our commitment to sustainability extends to all our races. Step by step, we are striving to achieve a balance between economic, social and environmental considerations that guide each of our decisions.

Our environmental commitments: Running towards a greener future!

In light of today’s environmental challenges, we are committed to being an agent of positive change in this direction. For each of our events, such as the Marathon Beneva de Montréal and the 21K de Montréal, we are committed to re-evaluating and optimizing our environmental goals each year.

Carbon-engaged events

In partnership with Planetair, we calculate and offset the greenhouse gas emissions generated by organizing our events. This includes: energy consumed by buildings and equipment, corporate travel as well as travel by exhibitors, employees, and volunteers, food, promotional items, and waste management.

Responsible waste management

In partnership with the Echo-Logique consortium, we ensure effective waste management at all our venues.

Conscious consumption

Our event T-shirts are offered as a low-cost option to reduce waste.

Recycled materials

All our official shirts, participant and volunteer, are made from recycled materials, supporting the circular economy.

Eco-friendly refreshments

Our refreshment stations use recyclable paper cups at all our events.

Reduction at source

We prioritize the use of reusable tableware in our VIP area in order to limit waste production at source.

Social and economic initiatives that make a difference

Beyond our environmental commitments, we also want to prioritize well-being by implementing social initiatives that stem from the values we hold dear.

Community involvement

We mobilize over 2,000 volunteers for all of our annual events.

Gender equity

We offer equal prize money for men and women in all of our elite programs.

Supporting local businesses

We prefer local suppliers for all of our event needs.

Inclusion and diversity

Our adaptive sports program extends to all of our races for inclusive participation.

Inclusive races

We have added a non-binary category to all of our events.

Here’s how you can help us make a difference at every race:

Give up your medal and a $5 donation will be made by the organization to our charitable program.
Offset the greenhouse gas emissions caused by your participation in our races.
Choose public transportation to get to our events and reduce your carbon footprint.
Participate in one of our charity programs: “Run with Heart” or the “Montreal 21K Charity Challenge” and raise funds for a cause that is close to your heart by running one of our distances. In 2025, the “Run with Heart” program raised over $1 million in donations for 60 beneficiary foundations. As for the “Montreal 21K Charity Challenge”, over $730,000 was raised for more than 50 foundations.
