The Pink DNA of FTG Run Club

Running can feel intimidating at first. On your own, that first kilometer seems insurmountable, and the performance-driven nature inherent to the sport can discourage even the most motivated women. This is exactly where For The Girls (FTG) Run Club steps in, creating a community where laughter is just as important as strides and where fun takes precedence over performance.
A Club Like No Other
Whether in Mile-End, Downtown, Griffintown, or on Mount Royal, the FTG girls bring their contagious energy wherever they go. You might recognize them by their coordinated outfits during themed runs, or by their laughter echoing through the streets of Montreal. “You know you’re part of our club when you train in the rain without hesitation, laugh at your falls, proudly wear pink, and can’t start your day without your matcha,” shares the founder.
Breaking Barriers with Humor
FTG’s approach to making running accessible is refreshing. “We create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere by minimizing the pressure of joining a club. Our leaders often tell jokes and do silly things to make the girls laugh and feel comfortable,” they explain.
This philosophy sometimes translates into completely offbeat moments: running with branches, dancing in the middle of a route, or as they call it, being “just a girl.” It’s this approach that transforms each outing into a genuine social experience.
Unforgettable Memories
Among their most memorable adventures? A run that ended in a torrential downpour. “We ran about 8 km in a deluge, and by the end, we were all soaked and covered in mud,” they recount. “The rain completely changed the dynamics of the run. We found ourselves rolling in the grass, jumping in puddles, simply embracing these wild conditions. The atmosphere was incredible.”
Their unique humor is even reflected in their inspirations: “We often quote David Goggins as a joke to motivate our runners, especially if the weather is bad. We’ve run with logs on our shoulders or rolled down hills on rainy days for fun.”
An Impact Beyond Running
Beyond the fun, FTG creates real impact. Last fall, they organized a charity event in just one week: “In October, over 100 girls joined us to raise funds for breast cancer. Seeing 100 girls dressed in pink, ready to run and support women fighting this disease, was incredible.”
But the most touching victories are often the most personal: “Last summer, a new member joined us, nervous and completely new to running. At first, she was hesitant, but week after week, she came, gained confidence, and finally started running on her own. She recently returned to one of our runs and shared how much we had helped her start her journey.”
Inspiring Ambitions
For the future, FTG’s ambitions are grand: “It would be incredible to organize large-scale social runs with more than 200 girls. Imagine the energy and sense of community!” Their ultimate dream? An international charity race supporting a cause that affects women worldwide, with a vibrant pink theme and the participation of women-led brands.
Beyond Running
FTG recently added a walking portion to their activities, making the club even more inclusive. This kind of evolution strengthens their community and reflects their mission: creating a space where all women can feel welcome, regardless of their level.
So, if you’re looking for a club where you can run seriously without taking yourself seriously, where friendships form as quickly as personal records, and where coffee & matcha await you at the end of the route – For The Girls Run Club welcomes you with open arms. See you at the next gathering, wherever it may be, rain or shine… and don’t forget your touch of pink!
